Croissant and Chocolate Bread Pudding (Tres Français ~ Very French- Year One: Volume 9; December, 2010)

Cook time: 30- 40 min
Ready in: 40- 50 min
Serves: 8

Ingredients:
Unsalted butter (for greasing baking dish)
6 large egg yolks
2 c. whole milk
1 c. heavy cream
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
6 croissants (about 1 lb)- cut into 1" pieces
4 oz. bittersweet chocolate- cut into chunks

Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375
- Butter an 8" square or other shallow, 2 qt. baking dish
- In a large bowl, whisk together egg yolks, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, salt, and nutmeg
- Add croissants and chocolate and mix to combine
- Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish and bake until set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, 30- 40 min
- Serve warm or at room temperature
